Some women choose to wear a panty liner every single day. Others don’t use them at all. It’s an issue of personal preference.
Remember that it is completely normal to have vaginal discharge throughout your cycle. You bleed during your period, and you may have also noticed a white or yellowish discharge during other times of the month.
Every woman has vaginal discharge and this cannot be avoided. It is a natural process with the exception of some dry days during your cycle.
You can choose to wear a liner during those times of the month to keep your panties “cleaner” throughout the day. If you use scented panty liners, in some cases, they can irritate the sensitive skin of the vulva.
Panty liners help you feel awesome and keep a ‘fresh and clean’ feeling throughout the whole day when traveling. Change them every 4-5 hours.
Some women occasionally monitor the color of their discharge, as it can often indicate some possible condition affecting their reproductive health.
You can use them on your light period days instead of a pad that doesn’t usually feel as comfortable.
It is a perfect backup for a tampon or menstrual cup and may help you know when it’s time to change them.
87% women we talked to said they use panty liners every day.
IMPORTANT! Gynecologists do not recommend using panty liners every single day, but only on those days when vaginal discharge is heavier, such as spotting at the very start or very end of a period or ovulation. Here’s why:
If the panty liner is not changed every 3-5 hours, it may create an environment for bacteria near the vulva. This bacteria may enter your body and lead to bacterial vaginosis.
If scented, panty liners may cause irritation and allergies in the vulva area. Itching, redness and unpleasant sensations are the main signals that you’re suffering from an allergic reaction.
If not changed at the right time, panty liners with non-fabric materials may cause the so-called greenhouse effect near the vulva.
We recommend you use panty liners smartly and stay healthy by following the recommendations of your ob-gyn.
