One of the most accurate diagnosis of ovulation is folliculometry or ultrasound of the ovaries. You can observe the maturation of the follicle in the ovary, ovulation, and the development of the yellow body. This method is valuable especially in the case of an irregular cycle.

Fern method is based on the fact that under the influence of estrogen, the character of saliva and cervical mucus changes. The nearer to ovulation (or rather, the level of estrogen at which ovulation is possible), the more pronounced the ability of this fluid to form crystals when drying.

You can also track ovulation by observing changes in the nature of cervical mucus. The closer to ovulation, the more transparent, elastic, and slippery the cervical mucus is. This creates optimal conditions for the promotion of sperm into the uterine cavity.
