When it comes to fertility, knowledge is definitely power. In fact, you need to do a lot of work to be able to detect your fertility window, like tracking, measuring your BBT, checking your saliva on a microscope, and observing your cervical mucus.
If you don’t have much time and can afford a pretty costly device, a fertility monitor will do all of that for you.
Often, women who don’t feel like learning Fertility Awareness prefer to use fertility monitors. They are electronic devices that use science and your vital signs to pinpoint your date of ovulation.
There are different kinds of fertility monitors - some are able to analyze your saliva or urine, others can be used to measure your BBT.
They record your results and after a few weeks, most fertility monitors create patterns based on your data. In other words, the monitor will consider your history log, instead of comparing you to a database.
They are simple, easy to use and don’t really require much thinking or analyzing, but fertility monitors are very expensive (starting at $100 and even reaching $400) and can sometimes display false results. Some fertility monitors may charge you follow-up costs for tests each month (nearly $30 per month).
Despite their obvious simplicity, fertility monitors remain the second best choice compared to fertility awareness, as the latter has been much better studied so far. According to the study, the fertility awareness method is more than convincing - in healthy women, about 81% of couples get pregnant after 6 months using this method, as opposed to only 60% of couples when not using fertility awareness.
