Sex Timing When Trying For A Baby

Women who are getting ready for conception often ask how often in their fertile window they should have sexual intercourse to get pregnant. The most effective time for this is ovulation, although it doesn’t mean that you should have sex only during this time.

Ovulation happens approximately on the 14th day of your cycle assuming it is 28 days long. An egg lives for nearly 12-24 hours after being released, so women are most likely to get pregnant within a day or so of ovulation.

Meanwhile, the sperm lives up to 7 days inside the female body. So having sex before ovulation also increases your chances of conceiving.

Unless you track your fertility period, you never know when exactly ovulation might happen, as it depends on internal and external factors that influence the woman’s health and well-being.
